Welcome to the Nicaraguan Cigar Festival

The Nicaraguan Cigar Festival “Puro Sabor” is a gathering of Cigar lovers and enthusiasts from around the world to enjoy the best Cigars in the world, and experience Nicaragua’s rich heritage and culture. Happening from January 22th to 27th, 2018 in Nicaragua.


Welcome to Nicaragua, land of lakes and volcanoes. A country waiting to be discovered and enjoyed.

Day 1 - Welcome

Day 1, Monday 22nd Welcome – Registration.

We will be waiting for you in the VIP area of Managua’s Augusto C. Sandino International Airport. Our Guides will take you from the airport to the city of Granada. Once checked in at the hotel and registered with the festival, you will have some free time to explore this historic city of Granada.

Free activities: you will visit Mombacho Cigar Factory and explore the colonial architecture of its old center, many museums, city tours and bars. It is quite safe to move around this city both on foot and by bicycle.

Day 2 - Beauty of Granada

Day 2, Tuesday 23rd: Discover Nature

Our starting point is Granada a natural beauty and impressive city of our country. After breakfast, you will enjoy the architectural beauty of Granada It is an enchanting city, known as the “Paris of the Americas” and named as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Relaxing day at the islets and lagoons you will enjoy different activities such as: swimming, kayaking, water bikes, etc. After lunch, from 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM you’ll also have the opportunity to visit Mombacho Cigar Factory. At night, we will have a welcoming dinner at El Convento, an important historical building and museum in which will make you feel at home.

Day 3 - Estelí

Day 3, Wednesday 24th: Begin the intensive visit of the richest cigars factories.

We travel to Estelí, famous for its tobacco fields factories and rich Tobacco Culture. The trip takes approximately two and half hours, but there will be a rest-stop to stretch your legs and, of course, smoke a cigar. When we arrive at midday, lunch will be taken at PANSA/Victor Calvo Factory. On this day we visit one of the many famous tobacco factories. At night, The festival is formally inaugurated by the country’s leading producers. The dinner will be at Joya de Nicaragua. This was the first 100% Nicaraguan cigar factory established in the country that manufactures handmade premium cigars.

Day 4 - Factories

Day 4, Thursday 25th: The cigar factories open their doors to you.

Continue visiting the world’s most important and impressive Cigar Factories, where the owners will personally show you around and teach you all you need to know to become a cigar expert.  Excellent tasting of cigars from different areas of Nicaragua, where you will feel the taste and stipulations of palates to understand how to make a blend followed by a conversation on various topics of interest. You will have lunch at Cigar Rings / Sancho Oset. At the end of the afternoon, you will have a few hours to rest and recharge your batteries before a traditional white dinner and party (where you’ll adorn your special guayabera shirt) accompanied by music and dance with colorful national folk costumes at Plaza Domingo Gadea.

Day 5 - Plantations

Day 5, Friday 26th: Tobacco field visits

Your activities will continue with a tour of plantations to see how the growth and production of tobacco plants takes place in harmony with the environment. You will be able to experience and enjoy the whole process of cigar production, from seed to curing barn. Lunch will be at  Las Limas PROCENICSA curing barn. During this day you will visit Tobacco fields and rest all afternoon. We have reserved the last night for extraordinary and an unforgettable gala dinner to bring the festival to a close. It is a formal affair.

Day 6 - Return home

Day 6, 27th: Tranportation to airport in Managua

Transfer back to Managua for flight home. You will take with you the aroma of a great tobacco nation and the esteem of an industry with a rich history, high quality levels and a true human face.
